What is my First Grader/Early Chapter Reader Reading? June 2023 Edition

Being an author, I naturally love reading. Fortunately, my husband and kiddos are avid readers as well. Here is what my First Grader is into this month:

Nate the Great and the Snowy Trail

Marjorie Weinmann Sharmat

My first-grader loves Nate the Great. She loves how he solves silly cases for his friends; I love how she gets so excited about reading the books. She is at the point where she can read one of these books to me in about two 15-20 minute sittings. The plot is age appropriate and easily translated into a Charlotte Mason method “narration” at the end of each session. This particular story is funny due to Rosamond, Nate’s neighbor, and her outrageous gift giving philosophy. However, I recommend starting with the first Nate the Great book in order to get a better feel for the series. While this book is good enough, books written earlier in the series were more thoughtful (in my opinion).
